Orange County rests in the picturesque Hudson Valley of New York state. It's located a quick 40 miles away from Manhattan. Orange County was actually one of the first counties established in New York in the early 1600s. According to Orange County's Government website, George Washington has many intimate ties with Orange County. Aside from Newburgh being one of his places of residence, it is also where Washington established the Order of the Purple Heart. Orange County is also home to many historical firsts.
